Updating the Apache version requires a minimum of knowledge of Linux environments. Nothing too complex, however it is always advisable to refer to experienced personnel in order to avoid errors that could damage your website and its contents.
WARNING! Before upgrading, take care to back up all configuration files/directories, SSL certificates/directories, virtual host files/directories, etc., or any other customised changes on the server!
The steps to follow are generally as follows:
A big advantage of keeping the same installation directory is that this should obviate the need to make changes to the .conf file (i.e. everything should be "drag and drop" as far as replacing the new default configuration files with the old ones). In addition, you should be able to drop custom files (SSL certificates, modules, etc.) in the same locations as previously used and make them work.
A great advantage of this approach is that you can keep the old installation 'just in case'.
The steps indicated here refer to a general Apache installation on a Debian 10 server, contact your host or an Angel if you are unable to determine which Linux distribution your Web server works on.
